Secrets Akumal

The resort is approximately 2 years old and feels brand new.   There are only 434 rooms at the resort but there is plenty to do.   The resort has a very mexican feel to it.  There are covered walkways and romantic paths through the gardens with hidden nooks with hammocks and benches.  At night the resort twinkles with lights.  There are ponds, streams and pools and hot tubs all over.  The 3 pools include one which is a  quiet pool.  All the pools have plenty of chairs with cushions and there is plenty of shade.  There are always pool butlers roaming around the pool to make sure you do not go thirsty.  If you want to stay active there is plenty do do all day and night.  They have a very nice gym and a large spa to pamper yourself after a hard work out.

You will not go hungry here.  There are 6 restaurants to choose from plus a grill by the pool, Coco Cafe for your coffee fix and a buffet.  Many of the evenings they also host theme dinners that are served throughout the resort.   You must try the french onion soup at Bordeaux as it is a very interesting presentation.   The Market Cafe  has a very good assortment of food at breakfast and lunch.  There is always a Sushi station at lunch a a fresh fish of the day.  If you enjoy chips and salsa, then don’t miss their assortment at lunch.   They also have a chocolate fountain with fruit for dipping.

The VIP area is called the Preferred Club and is something we really suggest.  All preferred rooms have a large jacuzzi in the room.  They also have access to a private area on the beach and a private lounge and bar.

The Akumal area is known for the sea turtles.  You can borrow snorkel equipment from the resort and swim 50 feet off the beach and watch the turtles swimming around you.

What makes this resort is the people.  The staff are amazing and seem to want to do anything they can to make the guests have an amazing experience.  Ask us any questions you might have.
