There are so many interesting sites to see and explore. Climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and view the entire city from above. Tip, there is a tunnel under the Arc de Triomphe to get to the other side of the 12 converging streets! Walk down the Champ de Elysees for a break at a coffee shop and great shopping. Don’t miss the Musee del l’ Orangerie in the Jardin de Tuileries to see Monet waterlilies in the round. The Opera de Paris Garnier has an imposing grand staircase and you can have a tour of the backstage and behind the scenes. Perhaps a treat to purchase ballets tickets while visiting Paris? Notre Dame Cathedral is beautiful and has a wonderful creperie around the corner.
Of course, no visit to Paris would be complete without a stop at the Louvre (hint visit in the evening it is less crowded). If art is not your thing, but you know you should go to the Louvre here are some highlights: The Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrase, and Napoleons apartments.
The right bank of the Seine, is the St. Germain area. Filled with restaurants, shopping and cafes. The Musee d’ Orsay is an art museum in an old train station filled with impressionist artists’ works. In the area of Montmarte climb the tower at Sacre Coeur for breathtaking views. In this area there are amazing cheese shops and bakeries that smell delicious from fresh baked baguettes. One could take a boat ride along the Seine River either during the day or in the evening to gain a different perspective of Paris from the river.
Food and wine throughout the city of Paris is fabulous. While walking various arrondissement (neighborhoods) stop in at a café or a local restaurant and relax and enjoy. Take your time through a meal and savor every moment.
Finally, Paris is as romantic as you have read and dreamt about. There are bridges throughout the city, so you can easily cross the Seine River from the left bank to the right bank. These bridges are filled with locks of love.
