1. Take a Tour of Tulum
It’s an archaeologist’s dream, with beautifully preserved structures and a rich social history, being one of the last cities that the Mayan people built and lived in. Feel the bygone days come alive again as you begin to explore the different ruins Tulum has to offer. View Tulum’s incredible temples. Walk up the pathway to the top of the cliff to see ‘El Castillo’ (‘The Castle’), often referred to as ‘The Lighthouse’ because it guided incoming ships. Take time to see the partially restored mural at the ‘Templo de las Pinturas’ (‘Temple of Paintings’), where you can admire what’s left of actual Mayan murals that adorned the temple. These and other highlights of one of the last Mayan cities will surely impress you.
2. Swim in a Cenote
The Riviera Maya has many “Cenotes”, which are underground rivers or lakes that you can snorkel or swim in. There are different types of cenotes. Some are rivers that turn into caves. Some are actually holes in the earth that you climb down into and can swim in. The experience is very fun and this is one of the few places in the world that you can experience a Cenote.
3. Sail to Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres or the Island of Women as it is known, is a small island off the coast of Cancun. The best way to get around the island is to rent a bike or a golf cart and drive around the island. We suggest a full day sail tour that will take you to a private beach club for the day where you can relax in the turquoise waters of the island.
4. Zip Line
There are many great zip line courses in the Riviera Maya. Our favorite location is Xplor. It is located very close to Playa Del Carmen and can provide you a full day of fun. Admission to Xplor also includes swimming in a lazy river, diving in a cenote and rock climbing. One of the most unique things at Xplor is that they are open at night. The experience of zip lining at night is very exciting.
5. Swim with the Dolphins
There are several locations in Cancun and the Riviera Maya where you can swim with the Dolphins.
Feel free to ask us about the cost of these excursions as we can reserve your spot for them when we reserve your trip.
