November Q & A

Q. Do I need a passport to travel to Alaska?
A. Typically the answer would be no to this question. But if you are taking a cruise that stops, starts or ends in Canada then you will need a current passport to travel to Alaska.

Q. How early do I need to be at the airport for my flight to Aruba?
A. The airlines require that you arrive 2 hours prior to the departure time for all international flights. Depending upon the airport you are flying from and if you are checking luggage we typically suggest that you arrive 3 hours in advance.

Q. I am thinking of having a destination wedding. Where are the most popular tropical destinations to have one and how far in advance should I start planning?
A. In 2017 and looking forward to 2018 the most popular destinations are Riviera Maya Mexico, Jamaica, Punta Cana, and Cabo in Mexico. We typically suggest you start the planning process 9 to 18 months in advance. This will provide you the best chance of finding the perfect resort and securing the date, time and venue at the resort.

Q. How long do you suggest for a family vacation to Disney World?
A. We would suggest a minimum of 5 full days if you want to enjoy all the parks as well as the water parks.

Q. Why would I work with Vacationeeze versus planning my own trip?
A. You can plan your own trip, but if you value having someone put all the pieces together, give you true life knowledge about the resorts and be there for you, then we are here to help you plan the trip of a lifetime. The Vacationeeze team is always traveling. Just follow us on Facebook and see where we are or have been. We have private guides and drivers in various locations. We know the general managers at the various resorts. We have been helping our clients turn their travel dreams into vacation reality since 1980.

Q. I was thinking of renting a car and driving around Italy. Would you suggest this?
A. We would not suggest driving around Rome, but the rest of the country is easy to drive in. The problem is once you get to the small town or large city you are staying in, parking becomes expensive and hard to find. We typically suggest that taking a train around Italy is the best way to get around.

Q. Do I have to pay for bags I check and carry on my flight?
A. This is a tough one. Everyday the rules change. At the present time the majority of airlines do charge fees to check your bags. Southwest remains one of the only airlines that does not charge. Most airlines will allow you to bring one personal item and a carry on that will fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead bin. There are also many airlines that are now charging you to bring on carry on or roller boards. Ask your Vacationeeze concierge about your specific airlines rules.

Q. Can I use my credit cards when I travel to the Caribbean?
A. The majority of stores, attractions, resorts and restaurants in the Caribbean will accept your credit card. We suggest you contact your card company prior to traveling and let them know the dates you will be traveling and the locations. This will help assure that they do not think the charges are fraudulent.
