Nassau is under 2 hours from Miami and approximately 3 hours from New York. For couples whose guests are concentrated along the East Coast, the Bahamas removes the main friction point of a destination wedding: the travel day. Guests can fly in the morning of and be at the resort by early afternoon.
The shallow sandbanks around Nassau and the Exumas produce a water colour that photographs unlike almost anywhere else in the Caribbean. The vivid turquoise is the result of the specific depth and composition of the ocean floor here. It is the reason Harbour Island's beach has appeared on more best-beach lists than almost any other stretch of sand in the world.

Per couple stays run $250 per night at mid-tier Nassau properties up to $1,500+ in the Out Islands. The country's biggest cost advantage for US couples is its proximity, which keeps guest flight costs down even when the wedding itself trends premium.
Which part of the Bahamas is right for your destination wedding?
Nassau and Paradise Island are the most accessible wedding regions, with daily flights from most US East Coast hubs and the largest concentration of resort options. Atlantis is the dominant property here, and Cable Beach on the New Providence side offers a quieter alternative with the same flight convenience.
The Exumas have become increasingly popular for smaller, more adventurous weddings, partly thanks to the famous swimming pigs at Big Major Cay and the Thunderball Grotto from the James Bond film. Flights are smaller and logistics more complex, but the photography and scenery justify the effort for couples who want something genuinely distinctive.
Harbour Island, with its iconic pink sand beach, is a favourite for boutique weddings under 50 guests. The hotel selection is small (Pink Sands Resort, The Dunmore, Coral Sands) and the entire experience is more bed-and-breakfast than resort. Eleuthera offers a similar character with lower prices and more space.

What a gorgeous resort! From the swings at the bar to the numerous pools… Many thanks to Zandra and Vacationeeze for planning such a dream vacation to El Dorado Maroma in Playa del Carmen last November! It was a beautiful location and the organized events were perfect! We had a delicious dinner on the beach that was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights… just magical! We quickly decided we didn't want to do a local wedding, so we started looking up YouTube videos of destination weddings. We found Jack and fell in love with him. We loved how he was a no nonsense type of guy that wasn't trying to sell anyone on anything, he was just stating facts and his knowledge.
