The resort wedding teams in Punta Cana, particularly at Secrets Cap Cana, Hard Rock, Dreams Onyx, and Breathless, have collectively hosted more destination weddings than almost any other corridor in the Caribbean. The institutional knowledge and coordination experience here is unmatched.
Punta Cana's east coast position and natural rain shadow mean it stays drier than most other Caribbean destinations year-round. January and February are statistically the driest months in the region, making this one of the most reliable weather windows of any Caribbean destination we work with.
Hard Rock Punta Cana handles groups of 80 to 150 guests routinely. Secrets Cap Cana suits intimate luxury weddings of 20 to 50 guests. Dreams Onyx and Breathless share a campus that suits mixed family and adults groups. The range of resort types here means there is a well-suited option for almost every wedding configuration.
When is the best time to get married in Punta Cana?
November through April is the dry season and the ideal window for outdoor ceremonies. Punta Cana's rain shadow effect means it is drier than most other Caribbean islands during this period. January and February offer near-perfect conditions with very low rainfall probability and warm temperatures in the low 80s.
May through October brings more humidity and higher rainfall probability. Hurricane season runs June through November, with September and October being the highest-risk months. These two months are not recommended for outdoor ceremony planning. If your preferred dates fall in the May through early June or late October through November window, we can advise on the specific risk profile and appropriate contingency planning.

What are the legal requirements for getting married in Punta Cana?
A legal ceremony in the Dominican Republic requires apostilled birth certificates for both partners, translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Both parties need valid passports. A civil registry appointment must be booked in advance. If either partner has been previously divorced, a certified decree absolute is required. Start the documentation process at least 6 months before your wedding date to allow time for apostilling and certified translation.
Most couples we work with choose a symbolic ceremony at the resort and complete their legal marriage at their local courthouse at home before or after travel. This approach is legally equivalent, significantly simpler to coordinate, and removes the documentation timeline pressure entirely. Your resort wedding coordinator will advise on both options when you book your ceremony.

How far is Punta Cana from the airport?
Most Punta Cana resort corridor properties are 20 to 45 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. Cap Cana properties like Secrets Cap Cana are among the closest at 10 to 15 minutes. Uvero Alto properties including Dreams Onyx and Breathless are further at around 45 minutes. Transfer time is worth factoring into your resort choice, especially if guests are arriving on short trips.
How far is La Romana from Punta Cana airport?
La Romana is approximately 90 minutes by road from Punta Cana International Airport. La Romana also has its own smaller airport (LRM) with charter and private jet service. For large groups flying commercial, most arrive via Punta Cana and transfer. The journey time is worth factoring in for guests on short trips.
Is Punta Cana good for a destination wedding?
Punta Cana is one of the best destination wedding locations in the Caribbean. It has a high concentration of luxury all-inclusive resorts with experienced wedding teams, reliably dry weather from November through April, competitive pricing at the luxury tier, and direct flights from most major US cities. The wedding coordinators here host more events per year than almost any other location we work with.
Is Punta Mita good for a destination wedding?
Punta Mita is one of the most exclusive destination wedding locations in Mexico. The Four Seasons Punta Mita and St. Regis Punta Mita are among the most luxurious wedding venues in the country, set on a private peninsula with extraordinary ocean views. It is a premium option best suited to couples with a higher budget who want boutique luxury over all-inclusive scale.
What are the best resorts in Punta Cana for weddings?
Our top picks are Secrets Cap Cana (adults-only, AAA Five Diamond, 10 to 15 minutes from the airport), Hard Rock Punta Cana (family-friendly, best for large groups and South Asian weddings), Dreams Onyx (family-friendly with Preferred Club and access to adjacent Breathless), Breathless Punta Cana (adults-only, high-energy, shared facilities with Dreams Onyx), and Nickelodeon Punta Cana (family-friendly with Gourmet Inclusive). The right choice depends on your group mix and priorities.
What is the difference between Punta Cana and La Romana?
Punta Cana is the main resort corridor on the east coast, with large all-inclusive properties, more resort choice, and the most direct US flight options. La Romana is on the south coast, anchored by Casa de Campo, a unique 7,000-acre estate resort with polo fields, three championship golf courses, and a replica Mediterranean village. La Romana suits couples who want something boutique and distinctive rather than the standard all-inclusive model.
