When is the best time to get married in Punta Cana?
November through April is the dry season and the ideal window for outdoor ceremonies. Punta Cana's rain shadow effect means it is drier than most other Caribbean islands during this period. January and February offer near-perfect conditions with very low rainfall probability and warm temperatures in the low 80s.
May through October brings more humidity and higher rainfall probability. Hurricane season runs June through November, with September and October being the highest-risk months. These two months are not recommended for outdoor ceremony planning. If your preferred dates fall in the May through early June or late October through November window, we can advise on the specific risk profile and appropriate contingency planning.
What are the legal requirements for getting married in Punta Cana?
A legal ceremony in the Dominican Republic requires apostilled birth certificates for both partners, translated into Spanish by a certified translator. Both parties need valid passports. A civil registry appointment must be booked in advance. If either partner has been previously divorced, a certified decree absolute is required. Start the documentation process at least 6 months before your wedding date to allow time for apostilling and certified translation.
Most couples we work with choose a symbolic ceremony at the resort and complete their legal marriage at their local courthouse at home before or after travel. This approach is legally equivalent, significantly simpler to coordinate, and removes the documentation timeline pressure entirely. What a gorgeous resort! From the swings at the bar to the numerous pools… Many thanks to Zandra and Vacationeeze for planning such a dream vacation to El Dorado Maroma in Playa del Carmen last November! It was a beautiful location and the organized events were perfect! We had a delicious dinner on the beach that was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights… just magical! We quickly decided we didn't want to do a local wedding, so we started looking up YouTube videos of destination weddings. We found Jack and fell in love with him. Most Punta Cana resort corridor properties are 20 to 45 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. Cap Cana properties like Secrets Cap Cana are among the closest at 10 to 15 minutes. Uvero Alto properties including Dreams Onyx and Breathless are further at around 45 minutes. Transfer time is worth factoring into your resort choice, especially if guests are arriving on short trips.
How far is La Romana from Punta Cana airport?
La Romana is approximately 90 minutes by road from Punta Cana International Airport. La Romana also has its own smaller airport (LRM) with charter and private jet service. For large groups flying commercial, most arrive via Punta Cana and transfer. The journey time is worth factoring in for guests on short trips.
