Tommy and Rae had one clear priority: keep it intimate. Thirty guests, a beach ceremony at Secrets Cap Cana, and a resort they fell in love with the moment they saw it. They stuck to their budget of $20,000 — even with the add-ons to décor and food — and came away saying they wouldn't change a single thing.
The proposal
Tommy proposed at Rockefeller Center, under the Christmas tree, on December 14, 2022 — surrounded by their family and closest friends. The setting was already planned for the ceremony long before the resort was.
Why a destination wedding
They wanted intimacy. Thirty guests who actually knew them, in a place extraordinary enough to justify the trip. A destination wedding made that easy to communicate: if you made it, you really wanted to be there.
Choosing the resort
Vacationeeze presented several options. Secrets Cap Cana was the one they fell in love with immediately. They considered the others — and then kept coming back to Cap Cana. The beach, the food, the service. They booked it.
The ceremony
The ceremony was on the beach. The cocktail hour was originally planned elsewhere but moved to the ballroom after wind picked up — a last-minute call that worked out fine. The reception followed in the ballroom. The most memorable part, Rae says, was watching their families and friends enjoy a beautiful destination together and make memories that had nothing to do with the wedding itself.
What their guests said
That it was the best resort they'd ever been to. And that the food was extraordinary.
Working with Vacationeeze
Rae describes the experience as the best — and ongoing. She recommends Vacationeeze to anyone planning a destination wedding, without hesitation. "Trust your travel team," she says. "Stay persistent with following up with the resort, and accept that whatever small hiccups come up, it will all work out."
Their advice
Trust the process. Stay persistent. And accept that imperfect moments are part of what makes it real.
