Tricia & Richard Kim

Mexico
TL:DR;

Tricia and Richard got engaged at Hyatt Zilara Cancun — so returning to the Cancun area for their wedding felt right. They ended up at the newly opened Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres, with a rooftop ceremony at Portofino and a Jungle Pool reception. Sixty-seven guests. January 2025. Their photographer's gallery is still the one they point everyone to.

How they met

Tricia writes: "We have Hinge and our embarrassing enjoyment for reality TV shows to thank for our beautiful and everlasting relationship." They got engaged at Hyatt Zilara Cancun — which made returning to the Cancun area for their wedding feel like a natural continuation of their story.

Why a destination wedding

They loved the idea of a wedding that was also a shared vacation. Having gotten engaged at a resort in the area, staying in the Cancun corridor for the wedding meant guests who had never been could discover what Tricia and Richard already knew: that the Riviera Maya and Costa Mujeres area delivers a consistently extraordinary experience.

Choosing the resort

Jared presented several strong options. Tricia and Richard had initially chosen Secrets Playa Mujeres, but the property was undergoing renovations at the time. Secrets Playa Blanca Costa Mujeres — a newer opening — became the alternative, and it delivered. "We had a lot of great options from Jared," Tricia says.

The ceremony and reception

The ceremony was on the Portofino Rooftop — an elevated setting with wide open sky above Costa Mujeres. The cocktail hour followed on the same terrace, then the reception moved to the Jungle Pool. Sixty-seven guests for a January wedding: the weather, the light, the setting all cooperated. "We loved having all of our family and friends together for a big vacation, enjoying the beautiful weather."

What their guests said

The resort itself was the thing guests kept talking about — beautiful, fun, and with food that genuinely surprised people who expected standard all-inclusive quality.

Working with Vacationeeze

"Choosing Vacationeeze was the best thing we ever did for our wedding." Tricia says the team made a process that could have been overwhelming feel entirely manageable. Their advice to other couples: "Wedding planning doesn't have to be stressful so don't make it stressful."
