The country has more all-inclusive rooms purpose-built for weddings than anywhere except Mexico, which keeps competitive pressure on pricing.
Resort stays start around $180 per couple per night at the value tier (Bahia Principe, Riu, Punta Cana Princess) and run to $500+ at the luxury end (Sanctuary Cap Cana, Casa de Campo, Eden Roc). The Excellence and Secrets adults-only properties sit in the upper-mid range and consistently produce the strongest wedding-team output.
Customisation is more limited at the entry tier compared with Mexico, but the value at the upper-mid tier is genuinely strong. Couples wanting a luxury wedding under $15,000 should be looking at the DR before anywhere else in the Caribbean.

La Romana, anchored by Casa de Campo, is the country's most distinctive luxury option. The resort's Altos de Chavón Mediterranean village provides a ceremony setting that exists nowhere else in the Caribbean, and the championship golf course makes it a strong choice for golf-loving couples and their guests.

What a gorgeous resort! From the swings at the bar to the numerous pools… Many thanks to Zandra and Vacationeeze for planning such a dream vacation to El Dorado Maroma in Playa del Carmen last November! It was a beautiful location and the organized events were perfect! We had a delicious dinner on the beach that was beautifully decorated with flowers and lights… just magical! Thank you Zandra, for picking such an amazing resort - we loved the Mexican night, the tequila tasting, and the mariachis! We will be returning for more advice from you in the future!!

We quickly decided we didn't want to do a local wedding, so we started looking up YouTube videos of destination weddings. We found Jack and fell in love with him. We loved how he was a no nonsense type of guy that wasn't trying to sell anyone on anything, he was just stating facts and his knowledge. Is a Dominican Republic marriage legally valid in the US?
Yes, with the correct documentation. A legal ceremony requires apostilled birth certificates translated into Spanish by a certified translator, valid passports, and a civil registry appointment. Most couples choose a symbolic ceremony and legalise at home, which is the approach we recommend for most clients due to the simpler logistics.
Do you need a visa to get married in the Dominican Republic?
US citizens do not need a visa to enter the Dominican Republic as tourists. A tourist card is included in most airline ticket prices or can be purchased on arrival. No additional entry requirements for a symbolic or legal ceremony.
